Abrams, Lionel

Abrams, Lionel
(b. 1931)
South African artist. Born in Johannesburg, he held his first exhibition in 1957. His interest in the Lubavitch movement in the early 1970s led to a four-year period of work on Jewish themes: he produced a series of pastel portraits of five generations of Lubavitcher rebbes, and painted a number of traditional Jewish themes.
